Who We Are
Little Kindles Africa (formerly Little Drops Organization) was founded on the 1st of October, 2014. Since inception, Little Kindles Africa, with about 50 volunteers across Nigeria has reached out to over 2,000 kids in Oyo and Lagos states through 6 events: 100kids 100smiles (2014), Something Special (2015), Sweet November (2015), Light it Up (2016), Luxury4little (2017) and The Little Things (2018). Little Kindles Africa is very passionate about the growth and development of children, especially those in rural communities who cannot afford their basic needs.
100kids 100smiles – This event held on the 25th of December, 2014 in Sango, Ibadan, Oyo state. A Christmas party was held to spend time with the children in the community and food, gift packs and T-shirts were given to 100 children.
Something Special – This was held on the the 14th of March, 2015 in Yemetu, Ibadan, Oyo state. We reached out to 200 children with clothes, shoes, school bags and food items.
Sweet November – This took place on the 28th of November, 2015 in Mele community, Ibadan, Oyo state. We visited a school that was started by a missionary couple and we held an event that gave out clothes, shoes, school bags, stationary and other educational materials to about 300 kids in the community.
Light it Up – This was held on the 26th of December, 2016 in Mele community, Ibadan, Oyo state. Again, we gave out clothes, schoolbags, shoes, gift packs and food items to about 300 kids in the community which included the kids in the school.
Luxury4Little – This was our first event in Lagos. It held on the 30th of December, 2017 in Obanikoro. It was a charity sale to raise funds for 1,000 school bags to be given to kids in Lagos. We had the general public and celebrities such as DJCuppy, Skales, etc. support and donate towards the cause. This campaign is still ongoing (view website) as we have not reached our target of the number of school bags although the funds raised so far have been used to purchase 150 school bags and were donated in January, 2018.
The Little Things – This was held on Children’s Day, the 27th of May, 2018 in Surulere, Lagos. We distributed clothes, food, gift packs, played games and spent quality time with the kids. There was also a short interactive session with the kids on Sexual Education and this was handled by the Medical Doctor on the team.
